Slightly Bougie Socks x Times Square: A Dream Realized

Dream Big, Take Up Space, and Walk Boldly in Your Purpose!

There was a moment on 2.22 that felt like a dream—TWO billboards in Times Square, a celebration of resilience, ambition, and the power of showing up. It was a moment for the little girl inside me—the one who dreamed with no limits, but was often met with shame for doing the most. And yes, I was extra AF—and still am.

But this moment wasn’t just for her. It was for the 41-year-old HR executive who, after 23 years in corporate America, found herself unemployed, anxious, and unsure of her next step. It was for the woman who had spent decades playing by the rules, meeting expectations, and excelling in spaces that often made her feel like she had to shrink to fit in. And yet, despite it all, here I was—standing in the middle of New York, watching my brand, Slightly Bougie Sock Company, take up space in one of the most iconic locations in the world.

And I wasn’t standing alone.

The women who stood beside me in that 20° New York cold weren’t just friends—they were sisters, proof that friendship evolves through the seasons of life, shifting and strengthening in ways we never expect but always need. These weren’t just the friends I brunch with or vacation with—these were the ones who have seen me at my highest and my lowest, who cheered me on when I felt unstoppable and held me together when I felt broken. They hopped on early morning flights, bundled up in layers, and stood in the freezing cold—not because they had to, but because they believed in me. That kind of love, that unwavering “I got you” energy, is rare. It’s the kind of friendship that isn’t just about proximity but about showing up—through loss, growth, reinvention, and everything in between. And that day, they reminded me I wasn’t standing alone.

This wasn’t luck. This was God’s grace. This was faith in motion. This was a testament to what happens when you refuse to let setbacks define you. When you let go of fear and step fully into your purpose, even when the path ahead feels uncertain.

Slightly Bougie Socks is not a small business, but a growing corporation, a legacy in the making. And just like these socks support every step we take, I hope this journey reminds US all that we are worthy of every dream, every opportunity, and every damn billboard our hearts desire.

So, to those of US navigating new chapters, rediscovering themselves, and reclaiming their space—

I see you. And I hope you see yourself in this story. Keep dreaming big. Keep taking up space.

And never let anyone convince you that you are too much! Your next chapter is waiting, and, it’s about to be legendary.
